SASOU TEA (Kuma Bamboo tea) Traditionally in tast Asia 'Kuma bamboo' is a food source for bears before they start hibernation. During hibernation, the animal's physical strength comes into importance as it allows them to survive the cold winter. Furthermore, bowel movement must be prevented during this period. Kuma bamboo has been thought to augment physical strength protect the intestines and blood from bodily wastes thereby restricting movement of the bowels. Kuma bamboo also holds an  astounding  ability to purify the blood and for this reason the ancient sage of eastern medicine named Kuma bamboo "green blood". In 1994, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) published that Helicobactor pylori can be the underlining cause for gastric cancer. Researchers in Japan had discovered that certain components of Kuma bamboo work to suppress Helicobactor pylori which adds to the significance of Kuma bamboo. Moreover, Kuma bamboo has copious amounts of vitamin B, vitamin e vitamin K, Flavonoid and essential amino acids present in a well balanced manner.

東アジアでは古くから、「クマ笹」は熊たちが冬眠前に食べる重要な食物とされてきました。冬眠中、熊が厳しい寒さを生き抜くためには、強靭な体力が欠かせません。さらに、この期間中は排便を避ける必要があります。クマ笹は、体力を高めると同時に、腸を保護し、体内の老廃物から血液を浄化することで、排便を抑える働きがあると信じられてきました。

また、クマ笹には血液を浄化する驚異的な力があるとされており、東洋医学の賢人たちはこれを「緑の血」と名付け、貴重な薬草として珍重しました。

1994年、国際がん研究機関（IARC）は、ヘリコバクター・ピロリ菌が胃がんの主な原因となり得ることを公表しました。日本の研究者たちは、クマ笹に含まれる成分の一部が、このピロリ菌の活動を抑制することを発見し、クマ笹の持つ価値がさらに注目されるようになりました。
